Both of her parents died before Elena was ten years old, leaving Elena in her grandfather’s custody. The old man had demanded respect, self control, and motivation from Elena. He helped to shape her into the woman she eventually became. She followed in her father’s footsteps to become a second generation detective with the CPD.

It was through her work with the CPD that she was introduced to the world unseen to most mortals, and to her calling as a Knight of the Cross. It was also where she met the first man she would love - and lose too soon. Nick Drake was killed before their sixth month anniversary, followed shortly by the loss of their unborn child. Elena lost her focus and her faith for a time, setting aside Fidelacchius and the fight that came with it.

Over a year later, Elena finally found her faith - and love - again, but in the most unlikely of places: a Denarian by the name of Maluriel. He turned her world upside down when he revealed that her husband had carried him until she was chosen. She continued to work with Maluriel, fighting side by side against the darker forces at work in Chicago until his host gave up his coin for a holy sword.

The conflict cut a rift between Elena and Maluriel that lasted until the night he broke free from his coin, and appeared to sacrifice himself to save her...

Elena now fights for Chicago in many ways: as Captain of Special Investigations, as a Knight of the Cross, and as the founding mother of the Better Future Society, a group founded with the intention of protecting Chicago, and providing help to all those who need it.
